To promote the right amount of shoulder and hip rotation in your swing, it's best to have your rear foot pointed roughly straight ahead, and your front foot angled about a quarter turn towards your target. You'll notice these angles when you see the pros on TV when they set up to the ball. These angles stay roughly the same for all clubs.
